A flat world in the classic sense: no terrain, no resources, just a plane to build on.

Superflat is the least structured mode in the client, which makes it the one where the lobby description tells you the least.

At 30 Oct 2026, 20:36 on client v3.46.231 the lobby listed 666,981 players in Superflat, which made it number 4 of the eight modes that publish a count. That is a live figure read once, not an average, and it moves by the hour.
